Hap

The hap, a Korean traditional chest box that is used to store valuables, often stays firmly locked for long periods of time. While I am awake, the hap is closed, storing all my personal valuables just as the unconscious mind remains hidden away. When I fall asleep, however, my hap opens regardless of my will. The act of a hap gradually opening – depicted here with spiders and fireflies being activated and flowers blooming – expresses my unconsciousness slowly awakening, stirring my latent thoughts and desires.
